The purpose of our Library's collection is to provide appropriate resources designed to support and supplement the information needs of Isothermal Community College students as well as our REaCH students based on the requirements of their curriculum.
We also have a few special collections.
All materials owned by the Library are listed in the CMC Catalog. Most books in the Old Tryon Historical Collection are circulating; those marked as Ref (Reference) are not circulating. Journals do not circulate.
The Old Tryon Historical Collection is housed in the Old Tryon Room, located on the south side of the west wing, past the Periodicals Room. This collection is comprised of books, journals, and census and court records on microfilm, as well as a few other items pertaining to the history of the area once known as Tryon County. Many of the books are circulating; some are Reference, and only for use in the library--these display the prefix "Ref" at the top of the spine label.
Books on the many aspects of starting, expanding, or managing a small business is located in the Customized Training and Development Center, located on the lower floor of the Foundation building. Books can be borrowed from the center by anyone holding a valid library card from any CMC library. Catalog entries for library materials available in the center are labeled "Small Business Ctr."
