History Matters: From the Bridge of Ice to the Trail of Tears

Presented by Roger Michael Jenkins

Researcher of the Native American culture, Roger Michael Jenkins, will share fascinating facts and artifacts he’s collected for over twenty-five years. Jenkins has appeared on WSPA in Spartanburg, SC, and on NC Educational TV. A portion of his Native American artifacts are on permanent loan to the Cherokee County History & Arts Museum in South Carolina. Come learn more about the Native American culture and view numerous artifacts.

Jenkins will present significant facts from the Ice Age, Stone Age, and Iron Age as follows:

  • Paleo – 12,000 to 10,000 BP (years before present)
    • Early Explorers
  • Archaic – 10,000 to 2,000 BP
    • Growth and Expansion of the Culture
  • Woodland – 2,000 BP to the Present
    • Formation of the Great Tribes

The program will conclude with a time for questions and answers.
