Andrew Major, former owner and president of the Mastercraft Company in Rutherford County, and his wife Flora donated a sizeable collection of paintings and other art pieces to Isothermal Community College in April 2001, most of which are now housed in the library. Items in the collection include an embroidered wedding coat, pottery, wall hangings, masks and carved wood pieces, as well as photographs and paintings. The collection represents a wide variety of countries and cultures, including pieces from Japan, Hungary, France, Switzerland, Russia, Africa, Burma and New Guinea, along with a number of pre-Columbian artifacts. The Andrew and Flora Major Art Collection is permanently displayed in the Isothermal Community College Library.
The art collection is permanently displayed around the library building for viewing during Library hours. Paintings and prints are hung on the walls. Large sculptures are placed in the front window wells, and smaller sculptures and pottery are displayed in a glass case in the Library lobby.
